Other than this small complaint the book was well written and documented. This period mentioned in the book could have been condensed without losing the history of the role Wild Bill played in that conflict. Bill Hickock was a US Army Scout during this period, but the author gave too much detail about other characters during that time, and more emphasis could have been written about Hickock. It was interesting, but I purchased the book to read about Bill Hickok and not about the Civil War. I feel there was too much written, about the 1st third of the book, concerning the Civil War.
